Parents and students,

We extend a heart-felt welcome to the students of the Odyssey Summer Program! We are so excited to be working with your child, helping them to be prepared for the upcoming school year! We have many exciting themes and activities planned for your Rising Second Grader! We will be learning through PBL this year, focusing on the Driving Question, How can we, similar to the Native Americans of Georgia, use the land to help our community? We will be studying such things as, Life Cycles of Animals and Plants, States of Matter, Types of Motion, Historic Leaders of Georgia, and Native American cultures.

Throughout this summer, we are also working to build role models with positive character traits, just like our famous Georgia Historic Leaders! This summer, we are teaching our students to be leaders who are respectful, responsible, tolerant, empathetic and courageous! We are also looking forward to going on fieldtrips to explore even more around this beautiful city!

On field trip days, please be sure your second grader wears their Odyssey camps t-shirt. We have planned to go to Blue Heron Nature Center on Thursday, June 21st from 10:00-11:30. For this field trip, students should wear clothes and shoes which can get dirty, long pants and sneakers with socks, we will be exploring the great outdoors! Students will be focused on stories of the land, and engage in such activities as building shelters from natural materials! We are also excited to go to the Botanical Gardens on Wednesday June 27th from 10:00-11:30 to explore the wonderful vegetation of different habitats. Also, please remember that there is NO ODYSSEY CAMP on Wednesday July 4th.

Dr. Criss and Ms. Adams are both currently educators in the Atlanta Public Schools and we’re excited to share our knowledge and experience with your Second Grader! We are looking forward to an amazing summer of fun while learning! Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, we are always available for you!
