Odyssey Internship Opportunities

What is Odyssey:

Odyssey is an educational non-profit organization that serves approximately 400 students in grades 1-12 from economically disadvantaged communities. Odyssey’s academic enrichment program focuses on students with unmet potential, preparing them for high school graduation and supporting them on their path to college. Odyssey is a 6-week summer program held on the campus of The Westminster Schools.  All expenses to attend Odyssey including transportation, school supplies, field trips, college tours, and meal are provided the generosity of our donors and supporters.  Odyssey strives to create an engaging educational environment that gives students the ability to excel in the upcoming school year and beyond, and to find value and excitement in classroom learning.

 

Odyssey Interns:

  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism with teachers, students, administration, volunteers, support staff and guests at all times. This includes using appropriate language, tone, physical contact, and content.

Student Assistant Coordinator Intern

Specific Skills:

  • Microsoft Office proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Possess superior interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including teachers, students, parents, & volunteers

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with organization of volunteer training & meetings
  • Supervising volunteers and ensure all volunteers are in their correct locations
  • Assist with scheduling volunteers
  • Work closely with Elementary Director to ensure volunteers are where they need to be
  • Perform a variety of other regular clerical and organizational tasks
  • Manage volunteer hours and complete periodic evaluations

Hours: 20 or 40 hours per week depending on the number of interns hired

Photography and Film Intern

 

Specific Skills:

  • Experience in action photography
  • Knowledge of composition
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop or comparable photo editing software
  • Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro or comparable video editing software
  • Ability to take initiative and manage projects from beginning to end
  • Flexible and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Microsoft Office proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Responsibilities:

  • Shoot photos of daytime activity in, and out of, the classroom of all grade levels
  • Coordinate with teachers or volunteers to ensure that photos are collected from all field trips or outside work hour activities and events
  • Work closely with social media manager to edit, label, and organize photos for wider distribution
  • Plan and execute a variety of self-lead videos projects
  • Perform a variety of other regular clerical and organizational tasks pertaining to photography, film, and social media
